At Discovery Tree Academy, we believe every child is a precious gift and we are honored to have the opportunity to become part of their lives as they grow and learn. These early years are crucial in creating a foundation for social and emotional health, physical development, language and communication, as well as cognitive development.
First and foremost, our infant program is staffed by loving and highly qualified teachers. We provide a safe and inviting classroom specifically designed to meet all the needs of our infants. In our classrooms, you will find a variety of age-appropriate toys, books and activity centers for your child to explore.
Our teachers begin “Building the Foundation” of future success by developing weekly lesson plans to meet the individual needs of the children in our infant program. Our teachers use the FunnyDaffer curriculum to teach the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards.
Teachers strategically provide stimulus that encourages infants to explore and discover. As our babies explore, the teacher prompts, cues, and models the language of inquiry, such as “What happens when you push the yellow circle? The bird pops up!” Additionally, teachers consistently stimulate each child with the sounds and rhythms of language to further develop their curiosity about the world around them.
In the infant room we began using Ages & Stages Questionnaires and the CDC Developmental Checklists tools to learn about your child’s strengths or areas where they may need additional support. The results of these assessments are shared with parents during formal family-teacher conferences. The partnership between Discovery Tree Academy teachers and our families is crucial to ensuring your child has a positive experience in school. Open and continuous communication is an extremely important practice for our teachers.
Our teachers use Procare Connect to share detailed information about your infant’s day, pictures of them enjoying their day, the need for extra supplies and most importantly how you can reinforce their learning at home. This harmonious relationship creates an environment where our children blossom into life-long learners.
We encourage and invite you to visit anytime; come see what your child is discovering today!
